DescriptionFull stud - with stud logo
From1955
To1956
This mold-generation is characterized by having stud-logos, but no stud recesses. These characteristics can be found for 1x1- and 1x2-bricks, in addition to early round bricks (1x1R, 2x2R and 2x4R). Based on the known colors, I believe that the 1x2-bricks come from dedicated 1x2-molds, and there are clearly two different mold-series for these bricks: 6a-6h - having the pip on the long side, and 6i-6j - having the pip on the short side. 6a-6d have 8 mold members each - all being slotted (one-sided). Molds 6e-6h are un-slotted versions of the 6a-6d-molds. Bricks are numbered 1-8, and can be differentiated by having (or not having) dots around the mold position number. 6a+6e: No dots 6b+6f: Single dot bottom left 6c+6g: Double dots bottom 6d+6h: Double dots right There is no conclusive evidence regarding there being four different molds (with 8 mold-members each) or if there is actually one large mold containing 32 mold-members. If there were four molds, they where being used in parallel - and when they stopped producing slotted bricks, all four where modernized to produce un-slotted bricks.
With one exception, the logo orientation is rotated going from the slotted to the un-slotted versions. It appears that the 6a-6h-molds where used for the Danish market. The 6i-6j-molds have 14 mold-members, and are closely related. 6i has a weak rib-spot inside (located on the pip-side), while 6j has a more evident rib-spot in the same location. Bricks from 6i has been found both in Denmark and Norway, while 6j seems to be a Norwegian-only mold. It's not at all evident that the bricks actually fit in a 14-member mold: *Two members have no mold identification number (placed in position 1 and 10). *One member is numbered "21", which probably is a mistake for what actually is mold member 12. *The molds contain both slotted and un-slotted bricks. *The mark used to differentiate mold-member 6 and 9 is very similar to the marks used to differentiate the different molds in the 6a-6h-series.
